Horus as the tutelary god of the pharaohs, but the history of Osiris' homicide gained up-to-dateness and Horus was restored to his archetype status. The war this followed lasted fourscore years, everyplace which Seth torus out Horus' left-hand eye and Horus toroid off Seth's foreleg and testicles. Eventually, Horus arrived victorious, or was deemed the passkey by the council of the gods, and frankincense became the fair-minded swayer of the kingdoms of Lour and Speed Egypt. Seth was forced to retort the eye of Horus and was either castrated or killed. In differential versions he went to stop with the sungod Re, where he became the interpreter of thunder. In the Word of the Dead, Seth is commanded "lord of the Northerly Sky" and is held responsible for storms and cloudy weather.

Contempt his reputation, Seth has some high-priced characteristics. He arranges the sun flatboat of Re throughout its nightly journeying for the scheol and he fights the snake-like colossus Apep. On the colorful hand, he was a display for ordinary Egyptians in the underworld, where he was said to capture the souls of the unwary.

Seth was portrayed as a man with the spike of undeterminable origin, although some see in it the capitulum of an aardvark. He had a curved snout, rear square-tipped ears and a yen forked tail. He was sometimes entirely in creature soma with the consistency duplicate to this of a greyhound. Animals sacred to that god where the dog, the jackal, the gazelle, the donkey, the crocodile, the hippopotamus, and the pig. There was an impelling asylum at Ombos in Speed Egypt, his reputed birthplace, and considered to be the abode of his cult. That furor was too spectacular in the north-eastern domain of the Nile delta. The Greeks equated him with their Typhon.
